About this property

Welcome to Fisherman's huts

Fisherman's Huts offer a unique accommodation experience with a row of laid-back cabins situated just across a walkway from a pebble beach on Whitstable Bay. Some cabins provide views of the bay, and many include living rooms and kitchens, making them suitable for guests who appreciate self-catering options. The cabins are complemented by allocated parking spaces, albeit tight and requiring careful navigation.

This property is praised for its relaxed and cosy atmosphere, with clean interiors and practical amenities such as free Wi-Fi, breakfast options, and beach access. While the huts are pet-friendly and suitable for families, some reviews note that the staircases can be steep and space is compact in places, which may not be ideal for all guests. Kitchens are present in some huts, though facilities like toaster or full cooking setups are limited.

Location is a strong feature, with the huts within a short walking distance of Whitstable town centre's pubs and restaurants, as well as a pebble beach. The proximity to Whitstable train station (approximately a 13-minute walk) adds convenience for visitors travelling by rail. Attractions such as Canterbury Cathedral and Tankerton Beach are nearby, offering additional sightseeing opportunities.

Overall, Fisherman’s Huts suit visitors seeking a seaside break with a casual, home-like environment and easy access to local amenities. The property carries a good reputation with a 4.4 rating from 181 reviews, although some guests suggest it could benefit from minor updates. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00, with key collection handled at a nearby location.

The experience staying at fisherman's hut 14 was superb from start to finish. The housekeeping staff helped us to locate it because it's quite tucked away and the map is 'out of scale'. (Hint it's opposite Argyle House, Sea Wall). The drive in to the allocated parking space is very narrow but fun to negotiate. I found it to be super clean and fresh although my Mum said she feels it needs a little bit of a touch up now, (we stayed end of season). My mum is a fit 87 and managed the spiral stairs with ease. The views are amazing from both levels and sitting on the deck watching the world pass by is just such a joy. On hot days you can use the deckchairs on the ground level as its lovely and shady under the decking. Coffee, tea, biscuits, cold cans of water, towels, fresh linen each day, all you need really for a relaxing break. I can't wait to revisit whenever I can!

I stayed in Hut 9 for 2 nights in January. The central heating was good even though it was very cold outside, but there was a lot of condensation on the windows each morning so had to use a towel to clear them. This hut has only hut 8 attached, so I did hear some noise from the neighbours but not much. None of the parking spaces are in front unlike some of the lower numbered huts. The spaces are quite small but should be ok for medium cars. Upon entering the hut there is a single step down into the twin bedded room with a TV on the wall and the only bathroom in the property. There is a rainfall shower, a tiny basin and a loo. Be warned that the kettle doesn't fit under the tap so you will need to use a mug or glass to transfer water to the kettle. There are deck chairs hanging on the walls for use outside in summer, plus coat hooks at the bottom of the stairs. There are 9 steps to the upper floor, each one quite high, but solid wood and much better than the 'steep staircases' in some of the huts. There is a handrail. The upper floor has a very large comfortable bed with a slightly annoying wooden surround, but the mattress was good quality and nice cotton bed linen. Plenty of towels were provided. There is another TV up here, along with a mini fridge, kettle and microwave, crockery and cutlery, and tea/coffee supplies. There is no washing up facility but housekeeping changed all dirty items for clean ones which worked well. WiFi was decent throughout my stay and the TVs were Freeview with good reception. The best feature of the hut is the seating area with table looking out to sea. You can see passers by walking on the coastal path but on a nice day you can see the fishing boats, yachts, etc. With regards check in, you have to collect the keys (and your parking permit) from Hotel Continental which is about 10 mins walk or a few mins drive away. The staff were friendly and efficient. Check out has improved since my last visit as you can just drop your keys into a locked box on the housekeeping hut (next to hut 1), instead of having to walk all the way back to the main hotel. All in all a lovely stay! I just wish they put more useful info on their website for each hut, as the info is quite minimal. Hence my longer review as I have tried to add info I would have found useful beforehand.

Hut 14. Two double bedrooms. Adults only. Great location right on the beach. Amazing views from the balcony. It's expensive £225 for the night but not so bad if there are four people, there were only two of us. Small kitchen with kettle, microwave and fridge (freezer section broken) so don't expect to cook a fry up for breakfast or even a slice of toast! Complimentary milk, bottled water, juice and a well stocked hot drink selection. Everything was spotlessly clean with plenty of fresh fluffy white towels and complimentary toiletries. Top floor bedroom has low ceiling so watch your head. Main bathroom is clean, modern with a good shower unfortunately the toilet is badly positioned so you have to sit on it sideways which means the toilet seat is broken. It's a real shame they have used the balcony as advertising space for the huts, it's ugly, spoils the view when you sit down and people walking past kept asking how much we were paying to stay there! The outside is very shabby, not sure if this was on purpose as the inside is very modern. Although next to a restraunt and right on the coastal path it was very quiet at night, the seagulls went bonkers at 5.30am for a while so take earplugs for that bit, but apart from that very quiet! Great to people watch during the day. Beds were super comfy. Despite the few faults I would definitely recommend and would return as its quite a unique experience.

We stayed in hut 9. We had a great stay. Just sitting in the window seat watching the world go by. Perfectly situated within walking distance to pubs and restaurants. Parking is tight so would recommend reversing in. Bathroom is very small but workable and the water is hot! Lovely big comfortable bed upstairs. Pillows were really comfortable too (soft). Beach chairs also supplied and a nice welcome pack. There is no toaster but we just ate out for breakfast. Lots of choice.

Would recommend huts. Clean interior, beds, bathroom, kitchen area, great location. Great tea and coffee making facilities . Fridge, microwave, kettle and sink. Easy book in and book out. Lovely and cosy hut. Be aware....I'm 5'8 tall and only had about an inch or so from the ceiling downstairs. Beware the stairs, really steep angle, I'd call them a ladder

Loved our stay here, the accommodation is quirky, with a brilliant location. The huts are lovely and clean with all the amenities you need. Lots of local places to eat and drink too!
